Ford headed to Asia

Posted by ross | E-Mail
Check out the Wall Street Journal article on Ford's recent $450 million investment in Thailand, which, according to the article, is "expected to provide a boost to the Thai auto industry and help an economy racked by months of political turmoil."  Ford is not moving into Asia because it likes Chinese food, but because Asia is where the most people are buying the most cars.  What, if any, are the effects of such a strong foreign market on our own market here in the U.S.?  Is this a sign of good things to come?

Buick Getting Younger?

Posted by ross | E-Mail

The stereotypes are true.  If you are old, you are in the market for a Buick.  Perhaps that is changing.  It appears that Buick, mainly through the Lacrosse, is making its way into a younger market, seeing its average buyer age drop from 72 to 65.  Check out the article here

Honda 3R-C3: Battery Powered Tricycle

Posted by ross | E-Mail
Honda has a new concept to be shown at the 2010 Geneva International Motor Show.  The 3R-C3, not to be confused with this, is described as a "revolutionary three wheeled battery electric vehicle concept shows what a future minimal urban transport vehicle for one person might look like. The battery electric drivetrain is mounted low in the three wheeled chassis, therefore keeping the centre of gravity low and thus improving stability."  I think it looks like one of the motorcycles from Tron, which at the end of the day, is pretty cool.  It will be featured alongside the FCX Clarity.  See the press release here.
